On June 17, 2019 the fire broke out on the territory of the state reserve lands on the territory of the Naurzum GPZ (steppe section). The forces and means of the Kostanay aviation branch and the Naurzum GPZ, voluntary formations and the rural formation of the Naurzum district were thrown into the fight against the fire element. Currently, work is underway to extinguish the fire. Fire extinguishing is complicated by high temperature and strong wind. The fire area is approximately 1000 hectares (non-forest, steppe area).
