FOREST FIRES ARE A REAL DISASTER
19 октября 2022
Each of us knows that the forest is the best place for a good rest and, of course, it attracts with its beauty numerous vacationers: mushroom pickers, hunters, tourists, who for the most part are responsible people. However, according to statistics, more than 90% of all annual forest fires occur precisely because of human actions.
No hike, no trip to the forest is complete without a bonfire. At the same time, some tourists simply forget that it is not always easy to control fire, and this causes a fire in the forest. Then the fire turns into a real disaster, as it will destroy everything and everyone in its path. That is why there is a direct need to know and follow the rules of fire safety in the forest. The main causes of wildfires:
- an unlit cigarette or match;
- smoldering wad after a shot; an oil rag or rag;
- a glass bottle that refracts the rays of sunlight;
- sparks from the vehicle muffler;
- burning old grass or garbage near a forest or peat bog;
- clearing forest areas for economic use with the help of fire;
- arrangement of forest pastures;
- but one of the main potential sources of wildfires is a bonfire.
In some cases, wildfires are the result of deliberate arson, man-made accident or catastrophe. Forests have been recovering for decades. If you have ever seen a forest fire, you will never forget this terrible picture.
What should I do if a fire started? If you found a fire in the forest? Immediately inform the rescue service by calling 101 or 112.
If the fire you found has not gained strength, take measures to extinguish it with water, earth, sand, branches of deciduous trees, thick clothing. The most effective way to extinguish a forest fire is to throw earth at the edge of the fire. Well, if you have no way to get out of the danger zone, try to find some kind of pond in the forest and enter it. In the territories where a special fire protection regime has been introduced, it is prohibited to visit forests until it is canceled. Always remember: it is easier to prevent a forest fire than to extinguish it! Therefore, be vigilant - do not endanger yourself and your loved ones!
