International bird day

"International Day of Birds" is an ecological holiday, celebrated annually on April 1, traditionally at this time, in anticipation of the arrival of birds from wintering, birdhouses, gogolyatniki and other "bird houses" were hung up. The old tradition of making birdhouses and other nests had a deep meaning: man not only helped the birds, but through this he himself became closer to nature. On this day, on the territory of the Borovsk aviation department, employees established nesting grounds for small birds.

The issue of bird protection in the 19th century was extremely acute for all developed countries. According to the estimates of ornithologists, since the 17th century, about a hundred species of birds have disappeared in the world. Therefore, in 1902, the first international convention for the protection of birds was signed, but it concerned only those species that were useful for agriculture. And yet, it is this treaty between states, which entered into force in December 1905, that is considered the starting point, and therefore, deciding on the date when to hold the international day for the protection of birds, it was decided to tie it to this agreement. And the world day for the protection of birds on April 1, held in 1906, is considered the first such holiday, which is now celebrated around the world. At present, the International Bird Day is held within the framework of the UNESCO biological program "Man and the Biosphere" in many countries of the world.
